Lake District Trail
on our first day we took a ferry boat along Lake Windermere from Ambleside to Bowness and then walking over the hills back to Ambleside, over 9.5 miles. The weather deteriorated from about 11.00 onwards. Lots of rain and later mist.
On the second day we walked 11 miles from Grasmere over the Grisedale Pass to Patterdale on Ullswater. This was the most arduous trek. The next day we did a circular walk along Ullswater Lake and Place Fell Over 8 miles. We took the bus from Patterdale to Keswick via Penrith. Our last day's walk took us along Derwentwater, Walla Crag and Friars Craig for 6.5 miles. Overall we had walked 35 miles on the Lakeland Fells.
